Our neurology service offers diagnosis and treatment to patients with diseases of the nervous system.
Neurology is a broad specialty covering lots of different conditions. Information on specific conditions can be found on NHS Choices.
Our neurology department is based at both Guy’s and St Thomas’ and has access to a number of special facilities including:
- EEG/EMG services (see neurophysiology for details)
- neuroradiology including MRI and PET scanning
- neuromuscular respiratory services including treatment of Guillain-Barré syndrome
- specialist in-patient wards including the Lane-Fox Unit for respiratory failure and sleep disorders at St Thomas’
We have a busy outpatient service and, in addition to the general neurology clinics, we also provide a range of specialist clinics, listed below:
- Huntington’s disease
- multiple sclerosis
- Parkinson’s disease
- sleep disorders
The neurology team also support colleagues in other clinical teams, providing neurological diagnostic services (see neurophysiology).
