Their stories, in their words

Our patients tell us that they like being able to hear from other patients who have undergone similar treatment. So to help give you an insight into the process involved, we have been granted permission by some of the couples we have helped, to share their stories with you.

Roz and Maxie

So here we are, almost 9 months later, and I wanted to share a few photos with you, of the baby you helped bless us with.

We welcomed Sascha Florence Myah into the world on 9th July at 1120am, via emergency C section, almost 4 weeks before her due date. I had become diabetic again and had too much fluid, but when she stopped moving completely and her doppler readings came back high, the consultants decided enough was enough and she should be delivered asap due to our stillbirth history.

Our care had been at UCLH but there was no time to transfer there, so Sascha was delivered at Barnet Hospital kicking and screaming. 10 minutes after birth she became floppy and struggled to breathe, so the paediatric consultants transferred her to intensive care where she was incubated, given oxygen, and intubated. Her infection marker then came back high, so she was put on antibiotics for a week, but she then developed jaundice so had a spell under the lights for a few days. After responding well to all the treatment she was transferred from ICU to high dependency, and finally after 14 days we were allowed home!

Since then she’s come on in leaps and bounds :-)

With 6 ICSI cycles behind us, including a chemical pregnancy, all our embryos dying on thaw, and a full term stillbirth, it’s been an incredibly difficult journey for us so we are enormously thankful to you for helping us achieve our dreams of a baby we can parent here on earth. I think it’s safe to say you’ve given us a very beautiful baby! :-)

We’re starting to become broody again so you never know, we might see you again sooner rather than later!

Thank you again for everything you’ve done for us.

Nicole and James

Nicole and James had a successful treatment cycle with us and we are so pleased that they have taken time out of their busy lives with their children to talk about their experience. They represent some of many patients who will have gone through this same journey.

Regina Watson

“We had a frozen embryo transfer under you care on 08th August last year. On Tuesday last 16/04/13 I gave birth to a gorgeous boy and girl weighing 5lb 9oz and 6lb 1oz. They are absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way.I want to thank Maria and all the embryology staff who took great care of us during both cycles of treatment at Guy’s.

I know there were times when I doubted whether or not this would ever work, please do keep telling people to stick with it, and “if you had ten pounds for every time you were right…. ”

We could not have wished for a better outcome.

Thanks again for all your help and assistance. Keep up the good work at Guys, hopefully many more couples will enjoy the same experience as we did.”
