Dr Jason Scott MBBS FRCA
Consultant Anaesthetist

Dr Jason Scott has been a consultant anaesthetist with a special interest in obstetric anaesthesia at St Thomas Hospital, since 2006.

During his training he spent 2 years as Clinical Fellow in Obstetric Anesthesiology at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. Here he developed skills in the management of complex obstetric cases, and engaged in clinical and laboratory research on the modulation of pain pathways in the spinal cord, and the effects of receptor genetics on anaesthesia and pregnancy. He has published a number of peer reviewed papers and authored book chapters on obstetric anaesthesia.

He is an educational supervisor for Anaesthetic Fellows undergoing higher training in obstetric anaesthesia, and is involved in the training of medical students. He also teaches on national courses for the primary FRCA and the rescuscitation council.

He is a member of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (RCA), the Obstetric Anaesthetists Association (OAA), the Society for Obsetric Anaesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP), and The British Medical Association amongst others.
His other areas of interest are gynaecological and vascular anaesthesia. He is the lead anaesthetist for obstetric anaesthesia and for obesity at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
